RESTORATION works are currently underway across the Western Division as authorities work “round the clock” to restore access to 115 affected roads.

Divisional Planning Officer West, Elimi Rokoduru, confirmed that while the division had avoided major structural damage to other key infrastructure, the road network remained a primary focus for recovery teams.

”The rest of the division, I think, are doing their best to address those issues. No major infrastructural damage,” he said.

However, the impact on transport remains significant. Mr Rokoduru said that data available on the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) website currently lists 115 roads in the Western Division as affected.

”That was damaged, but they are working on it round the clock to get the accessibility back on track. That’s the track,” he said.

Mr Rokoduru said that the numbers of affected roads are expected to fluctuate as repair crews make progress on the ground.

”So, they have listed 115 roads in the Western Division that was currently affected. Hopefully, by the end of the day they will have reduced the numbers as we go along here.”
