The Ratu Kadavulevu School under-18 team is expecting tough competition from Queen Victoria School during the Eastern Zone Secondary Schools rugby finals at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.
RKS captain Meli Wara said they would not underestimate the boys from Vulinitu despite two previous wins against them this year.
“They are a good team and even though we won against them, they will come strong against us tomorrow (today),” he said.
“When it comes to the final, it’s a different game all together. We will stay humble and let the game come to its due course.”
Yesterday, RKS received a boost from Jack’s Fiji with the sponsorship of rugby uniforms from the U14 to U19 grades.
Jack’s Fiji has been the sponsor for RKS since 2018 and has maintained their partnership even through the COVID-19 period.
The company’s marketing and public relations officer Biu Veikauyaki said they still believed in supporting the school to perform well in school sports events.
School principal Ilaisa Waqalala said they would do their best on the field. He said the contribution from Jack’s Fiji would lift the morale of the players and the team management to win all their games.
“We had requested for a change in the design of the uniform to bring back the old design which is well known to former students of RKS.
“I believe that this will boost and encourage our players, stakeholders, parents and supporters to buy this merchandise,” Waqalala said.
RKS will take on QVS in the final of all the grades.
