RKS through to the final

SUPER boot Nailati Ukalele nailed four penalties to guide Ratu Kadavulevu School to a 17-10 victory against Ratu Navula College in the Coke Zero Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union under-18 semi-final at Govind Park in Ba yesterday.

Ukalele punished the indisciplined Ratu Navula side with precise kicking to give his side a handy 12-0 cushion at the break.

Ratu Navula started strongly in the second spell and after a few surges at the RKS line, flanker and Fiji 7s rep to the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa Peniami Narisia forced his way over.

The conversion failed.

RKS hit back immediately from the kick-off after Ratu Navula’s clearance was charged down close to their line.

The powerful RKS pack drove through with bulky Serupepeli Uru dotting down.

The game opened up from thereafter with both teams opting to show their running flair.

Ratu Navula replacement Epeli Misiroi found a gap through the RKS defence and raced 20 metres to dive over near the corner flag.

The conversion failed once again.

Ratu Navula tried hard to breach the RKS defence in the last quarter but was unsuccessful.

RKS captain Ratu Pio Meya said they managed to hold off Ratu Navula’s resurgence in the second half.

“It was tough,” Ratu Meya said.

“We believe in forward play and the boys did the job in the first half. Ratu Navula came back at us when we had a couple of yellow cards.

“Ball handling is one area that we have to work on.”

Ratu Navula captain Apisalome Nabalewa said they did not take their chances well.

“We made a late start,” he said.
