The Fiji Bureau of Statistics recorded increases in Fiji’s International Trade in Services Statistics for the September Quarter 2022.
Statistics provided by the bureau show that Fiji’s export of services increased by $829.8 million, an increase of 879 per cent in the September quarter of this year when compared with the same period last year.
Notable increases were recorded in travel, transportation and government services.
The bureau showed that export of travel services increased by $515.1m (7,254.9 per cent) because of an increase in tourist arrivals.
Export of transportation services increased by $279.2m (906.5 per cent) as a result of an increase in air transport services while government services increased by $16.8m (50.6 per cent) mainly because of an increase in services to international agencies.
In the same period Fiji’s import of services also increased by $192.5m (69.4 per cent) when compared with September quarter 2021.
Similar to exports, imports of transportation services increased by $117.4m (87.1 per cent) because of an increase in sea transport services while travel services increased by $74.1m (212.3 per cent) because of an increase in personal travel services.
Insurance and Pension Services increased by $1.9m (7.4 per cent) because of an increase in insurance services.
Fiji’s International Trade in Services Statistics (ITSS) provides information on the value of import and export of services between Fiji and the rest of the world.
