Members of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) Taskforce ‘Cori Mada’ 2 (TFCM2) operation joined comrades from six other disciplinary forces under the joint Multinational Police Support Group (MPSG) in a training exercise to prepare for the upcoming South Pacific Games and elections in the Solomon Islands.

The exercise aims to synchronise and accomplish monitoring of undesirable gatherings of crowds or groups in those upcoming national events during the end of the year and the beginning of next year.

According to the RFMF, the combined exercise also aims to test the alliance of MPSG with its techniques, effectiveness, and proficiency as a support group.

The MPSG is a joint coordination task force working together in the Hapi Isles, with the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), RSIPF Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Police New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC), New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), Australia Defence Force (ADF), Australian Federal Police (AFP), and the RFMF.

After more than six months of deployment, TFCM2 soldiers were engaged in the shooting range in Tenaru as they familiarised themselves with their weapons and challenges by their commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Asaeli Toanikeve.

The RFMF stated the challenge was to see each TFCM2’s marksmanship and accuracy with their very own personal weapons.

This is the first-ever combined MPSG exercise.

The Pacific Games will be held in Honiara from November 19 to December 2 later this year, and the island nation’s elections moved to 2024.
