The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) staff, MFO Batt 42 Draft, and personnel from Delta and Echo Company were trained by Ministry of Health and Medical Services representatives on basic first aid in preparation for any possible deployment to hospitals.

This was revealed as there were talks of a silent protest by Fiji Nurses Association members.

Facilitating the training yesterday were representatives Dr Mosheel Ali and senior nurse Jessie Young from Nadi Hospital.

In a statement, the RFMF said personnel were trained on how to assess patients or casualties to ascertain how quickly they required medical attention and the nature of treatment required.

This included the measurements of temperature, the assessment of pulse and blood pressure, and the checking of neurology level and oxygen.

The military personnel were also taught the emergency ward set-up and procedures and how to transfer patients from transport to a hospital bed.

The training took place at Blackrock Camp, Nadi.
