As the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) enters a new financial year, there is a dire need for all units to learn how to minimise on spending and to use their portion of the budget wisely.

Commander Land Force Brigadier-General (Brig-Gen) Onisivoro Covunisaqa made the comment while addressing his parade on Tuesday at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) Drill square.

The parade saw the participation of all Land Force elements in the RFMF, which included the Land Force Command Battalion, 3rd Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment, Engineer Squadron, Force Training Group, and Logistic Support Unit.

Brig-Gen Covunisaga reminded his troops on the importance of being financially literate in the different units they belonged to.

“I know that you will have seen that our financial year has started on the first day of this month … we must also teach ourselves how to use the portion of the money wisely,” Brig-Gen Covunisaqa said.

He said all Land Force units should take good care of their assets and equipment as it is used in every aspect of their duties.
