The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has confirmed that an unregistered pistol magazine containing 11 live 9mm rounds was discovered in the Makoi area near the Nasinu Police Station early yesterday morning.
In a statement issued today, the RFMF Commander Ro Jone Kalouniwai said the item was found at approximately 5am on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, by a member of the public near a bus stop adjacent to the police station.
The individual immediately alerted RFMF personnel based in Nasinu.
According to the military, preliminary assessments confirmed that the magazine and ammunition are not part of the official RFMF inventory.
The recovered items have since been secured and are currently in RFMF custody as investigations continue jointly with the Fiji Police Force to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The RFMF is urging members of the public not to handle suspicious items, including weapons, ammunition or military-related equipment, and to report them immediately to the nearest police station or RFMF camp.
