Rewa Football Club will be heading into the Courts Inter District Championship with much motivation next week.
This after receiving a $15,000 sponsorship deal from a local company based in Nausori yesterday.
Ajay Tradings Ltd has joined hands with Rewa FC after the launch of the sponsorship deal in Suva, with less than a week until game day.
Rewa FC vice president Peter Cecil said the sponsor ship would be a lot of help to the club as they prepared for the IDC.
“We just want to thank our sponsors for believing in us and agreeing to come on board as sponsors.
“The funds will go towards the preparation, meals, and the accommodation of the players,” Cecil said.
Rewa has been placed alongside Nadi, Navua and Suva in Group B of the IDC, and Cecil is expecting a tough battle.
“The sponsorship will certainly prepare the boys well and we are extremely grateful for it.
“Looking at the pool, we have been placed alongside some of the best football teams in the world.”
He said their goal was to be able to reach the finals and take the title back to Rewa.
“Our ultimate aim is to win the IDC and I believe the boys have the potential to do that.”
Rewa FC goalkeeper Mohammed Alzaar also shared similar views on the pools they have been placed in and is expecting a difficult competition as well.
“Yes, we have Nadi, Navua and Suva who are all excellent teams so we are anticipating a very exciting tournament,” the 23-year-old said.
Mohammed, who has been representing the Rewa FC side for the past few years, believes their side has what it takes to go all the way.
“We have learnt a lot since the Battle of the Giants, and we are ready to come for the IDC.”
