Rewa head coach Rodicks Singh says his side will be looking for a win today as they face the Solomon Warriors in their second match of the Oceania Football Confederation Men’s Champions League in Tahiti.
Singh said there were a lot of lessons learned from their 2-all draw against Auckland City on Sunday and will be sure not to repeat any mistakes against a fast Warriors outfit.
“We need to be at the top quality of our game tomorrow so that we can win and secure our first three points of our journey,” he said.
“We made some mistakes, especially in our defence against Auckland City that could have punished us, but we were lucky to escape that.”
Singh said defence will be the side’s biggest weapon in their second match, as they are expecting an explosive and determined Solomon Warriors side.
“We see a very good team that plays quality football, and they can hurt us with a lot of speed looking at the quality players they have.”
He says his side has been building momentum from their opening match and is expecting to continue their superb form.
“We will be building from the intakes, the good things we have done since our first match, and this is what we plan to do tomorrow (today).
“I think there are a lot of positives from the game against Auckland City. There was ball retention, we played around the ball and kept possession, and we didn’t panic or buckle under the pressure.”
The Rewa coach also says they’ll decide this evening whether Samuela Kautoga and Iosefo Verevou will make the matchday squad after returning from suspension.
Rewa faces the Solomon Warriors at 1pm in Tahiti.
