HEADING into round two of the Pillay Garments Champion v Champion, Rewa will need to fine tune certain areas before they face Labasa this weekend.
These are the sentiments of head coach Priyant Mannu, following their 1-0 victory over the Babasiga Lions on home turf in Nausori last Sunday.
“The first game showed me a lot of changes in the team,” Mannu pointed out.
“We need to manage the ball well and also our finishing. If we get chances we have to finish it off.”
It will be something vital, Mannu says, the team will have to concentrate on as they prepare for their second duel against the Lions.
Last Sunday’s match saw them hold off the visitors under rainy conditions, even as match officials deliberated over whether to continue the match or call it off.
Spectators packed the grandstand at Ratu Cakobau Park and when the weather changed from overcast conditions to pouring rain, those seated at the lower tier of seats near the pitch stood up to move upwards to drier areas.
Meanwhile, for Labasa, hosting the Delta Tigers at Subrail Park this weekend also means brushing up on areas affected in their game plan.
Coach Alvin Chand is looking forward to heading back to the drawing board with his side, as they have a week to prepare for round two.
“We have one whole week to prepare and we have seen now what are the areas of improvement since our squad has gone through a lot of changes,” Chand says.
The CvC is a tournament where the champions of the Fiji FACT and the Inter-District Championship meet to contest for its winning title.
