Rewa’s moves closer to a top two finish in the Digicel Premier League after they beat Western giants Ba 1-0 during their round 13 clash at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

“We knew where we started coming into the competition, and now, we see how far we have come and this win gets us closer to our goal,” said coach Roderick Singh after the match.

Singh said they knew the capabilities of the Men in Black and were undaunted, and praised his warriors for their self belief.

“We know what Ba is capable of, but we are a class team on paper, and I told our boys they must also prove it and play like it which they did.

“It’s set us in a good place and we will look to finish strong against Nadi next week which will also not be an easy game.”

A tightly fought contest, Ba’s Etonia Dogalau managed the only in range shot on goal in the 35th minute, but was unsuccessful with both teams going to the tunnel nil all.

The red machine brought the crowd to life after breaking the deadlock in the 60th minute when front man Epeli Valevou received a well-timed pass from pairing Anish Khem to slip the ball way too fast past Ba last man Tevita Koroi Ba hit back hard and even with the presence of Saula Waqa, who returned after a two-year ban, was not enough to help the Men in Black.
