Defensive play in the second half proved to be the key factor in Rewa FC’s 2-1 victory over Labasa in round three of the 2026 Extra Premier League match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

After trailing 1-0 in the first half, the Delta Tigers regrouped during the break and came out with a renewed mindset that ultimately led to their success.

Head coach Priyant Manu acknowledged the tough challenge his team faced, but credited their determination and focus for the turnaround

The players were urged to give their all on the field in order to secure the much-needed three points.

“It was a tough match for us, down on the first half we had to get things right and with the players focus and determination we got this win,” said Manu.

“The team came on second half with a defensive plan, talking to the boys to give their all on the field to get our three points on the table.

Manu emphasised the importance of learning from their mistakes and continuing to improve as they prepare for their next match against Nadroga.

He expressed confidence that the team will be ready for the upcoming challenge, thanks to the hard work and dedication of both the players and coaching staff.

“We going to go back, work on our mistakes, we have a lot of work to do, and come next game against Nadroga, we will be fit and ready.

The support of the fans and families in attendance was also highlighted as a major factor in motivating the team to perform at their best.

Manu expressed his gratitude to everyone who showed up to support the team, emphasising the positive impact it had on the players.

Rewa FC will play Nadroga in their next match in two weeks time.
