PEOPLE from all walks of life within the Rewa and Tailevu provinces gathered at Nausori parish hall to share their experiences on the impact of climate change in their respective villages.

The information gathered during this talanoa session would be compiled for submission at the second phase of dialogue at the COP 24 session in Poland later this year.

Tikina o Namara representative from Tailevu Sekaia Mua said villages within their district experienced the impact of climate change daily.

“We need assistance like the construction of sea walls to protect our villages from tidal waves, some villages don’t have evacuation centres,” Mr Mua said.

Acting Commissioner Central Division Anare Leweniqila said it was an opportunity for Government officials, NGOs and academics to hear first-hand the impact of climate change in Tailevu and Rewa.
