FIJI Water and the National Union of Workers (NUW) have agreed to revise the pay and classification system within the company.
NUW general secretary Felix Anthony said this was to ensure workers doing the same work would be paid the same wage rate as well.
“So that there would be no discrimination in any way,” he said.
“We have agreed that these wage increases will be implemented without delay, as soon as this memorandum of agreement is registered with the Ministry of Employment.
“There are other minor issues in the agreements such as the safe driving policy and the calculation of quarterly bonuses that employees receive. And, of course, the use of an electronic chip system which drivers use, which they say is for safety but that of course is going to be optional and not a compulsory requirement.”
In a statement yesterday, FIJI Water stated they were pleased that good faith negotiations had resulted in an agreement that successfully and fairly resolved the matter.
