Work to review the Education Act 1966 is a step closer now with the conclusion of a workshop in Suva.
Stakeholders engaged in comprehensive discussions, identifying key areas for improvement, including school governance, curriculum and assessment reforms, and health and safety.
“This review is essential to address the evolving landscape of education, including technological advancements and the diverse needs of our students,” said Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro.
“We are committed to addressing gaps in the current legislation, focusing on areas such as free education grants, curriculum reform, parental engagement, and emerging sector issues.”
The next phase will include inter-ministerial consultations and an extensive public consultation across all four divisions, nine education districts, and selected clusters, engaging students, teachers, educators, stakeholders, and the general public.
Details of this consultation will be announced shortly.
