THE returns on investment in Papua New Guinea (PNG) are enormous, said PNG Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Lands John Rosso.
He shared this while speaking at the Fiji-PNG Investment Business Forum 2025 in Nadi this week.
“Investment, once you overcome challenges in Papua New Guinea, the returns are enormous,” he said.
“Fiji and PNG need to be looking at addressing challenges that they have in both countries.
“Those challenges can be addressed by the Deputy Prime Ministers, but those challenges should be more addressed at a bureaucratic level, at a business level and at the leaders of industries (level).
“That is where those challenges should be identified, and those challenges should be sorted out.
“And whilst we (DPM Manoa Kamikamica and DPM Rosso) lead the way and pave the way for addressing those challenges, most of those challenges can be addressed by bureaucrats and leaders of industry sitting in this room.”
Mr Rosso said the forum would feature government to government, business to business and business to government engagements held under the theme “Connecting Our Business Creating Opportunities in the Pacific”.
“It is my hope that this conference will serve as a platform to strengthen the private sector and government partnerships and to promote regional trade and investment opportunities.
“I note that the PNG business delegation comprising of budding and thriving businesses in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, financial services, retail and wholesale among others have made the bold mission to invest their time and resources to accompany myself and our delegation and visit Fiji to explore business, trade and investment opportunities with and in Fiji.
“And vice-versa when the trade delegation visits us with the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister (Manoa Kamikamica) in Papua New Guinea, they also can come with those visions and that partnership, looking at solutions to try and invest in both countries.”
