Report: ACCF boss’ salary and benefits total $387,429 in 2019

The CEO of the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) had a total salary and benefits of $387,429 in 2019, states the ACCF’s 2019 annual report that was tabled in Parliament on Thursday.

The annual report identifies Parvez Akbar as the CEO of the commission.

The salary and other benefits for the CEO in the 2018 financial year was $170,535.

Under the heading “key management compensation”, the annual report states key management personnel were persons having authority and responsibility for planning, directing and controlling the activities of the entity, directly or indirectly.

“During this period, the chief executive officer was identified as key management personnel, with the greatest authority and responsibility for the planning, directing and controlling the activities of the commission.”

The commission receives funding from the Motor Vehicle Accident Levy and Fiji National University Levy.

“The ACCF collected a sum of $15,400,769.02 as at July 31, 2019, which includes the sum of $11,362,727.06 as Motor Vehicle Accident Levy and the sum of $4,038,041.96 as 40 per cent of 1 per cent FNU levy,” states the annual report.

“The ACCF was established under the Accident Compensation Act 2017 and is an initiative of the Fijian Government that compensates victims of accidents without the burden of proving fault.”
