Renewing one’s faith is a path that many people take to strengthen their relationship with God.
Last week, six individuals embarked on a new spiritual journey by affirming their faith into the Anglican Church through a Confirmation Mass at St Gabriel’s Anglican Church in Laqere.
The Confirmation stresses the importance of growth in one’s faith in God as an individual while their loved ones witness the special moment.
Wearing white and radiating God’s love, the six newly confirmed believers stood with thankfulness and humility in the eyes of God and their loved ones.
The newly confirmed members were from the ages of 10 to 26.
They had spent months preparing themselves spiritually for their new journey ahead — learning the essence of being a good person and Christian.
They undertook special lessons, juggling work and school.
“In confirmation, they now make the promise that their parents had made on their behalf when they were baptised at a young age, making known their commitment to a journey of faith,” Father Peniasi Lomayasi said.
“It is to acknowledge their place in the local and international Anglican church. In return the church will promise to support them in their course.”
The church was filled with the sweet melodious voices of the congregation, one could tell they were proud of their newly confirmed members.
The support of the congregation represented their commitment to keeping their youths on the right path.
Present at the occasion was the Dioceses of Polynesia, Reverend, Sione Silongo Uluilakepa who reminded them to embody the life of Christ in the community.
He commended Father Lomayasi for his effort in preparing them for their new role in the church, to their family and to their community.
One of the confirmed members, Elena Wati, 26, said, it was an important event as it represented her spiritual journey and growth.
She had to leave work for afternoon lessons with Father Lomayasi, despite her busy schedule from work and taking care of her children.
