Mohammed Rafiq has embarked on a noble mission to help those most affected by the second wave of COVID-19.
The Ma’unatul Islam Association of Fiji president took the lead role in marshalling Lautoka branch members and distributing 30 food packs to the needy recently.
“It was only made possible with the generosity of our members, including executives of the Lautoka branch and their respective families residing abroad who offered cash contributions,” he said.
“The food packs were given to the genuine and needy people who have no form of income at the moment.”
Mr Rafiq said each food pack cost $65 and consisted of basic essentials. He added needy families who were assisted resided in Tavua, Ba, Lautoka and Sabeto, Nadi.
Mr Rafiq said association members strictly followed all COVID-19 protocols and health measures during the food distribution drive.
He said the assistance was not only rendered to those of the Islamic faith but also included people of other faiths and religious beliefs.
