Relief for families

FAMILIES affected by a tidal wave in Temotu’s Reef Islands on December 21 last year will be given relief supplies.

That was according to a report produced by the Temotu Provincial Government assessment team sent to the area.

The report, which the Solomon Star cited, said families lost food and household items during the disaster.

“The low and even no income at all for households justifies that families who had their kitchen utensils, solar lights and other important personal effects destroyed by the tidal wave must be assisted to normalise their conditions,” the report said.

“Adequate assistance should also be provided to families with damaged kitchens and houses to rebuild theirs.”

The team was deployed to make an immediate assessment of the situations at Lipe village, Nifiloli Island, and Pileni on Tuesday 24, 2013.
