Registration open to testify before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Listen to this article:

The Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission is asking Fijians to register their interest in the process of “truth-telling for healing and reconciliation.”

This can be done through a contact form that is now available on their social media page.

“Our mandate is to examine past political upheavals and their impact on people’s lives,” states the TRC on the form.

“We are looking at the physical and emotional harm, loss of life and property, and systemic injustices against people.”

“We are doing this to foster unity in a society where everyone feels safe, equal, included, and able to thrive.”

“If you or your community suffered harm physically, emotionally, or financially or if your human rights were substantially violated during the past political upheavals from the year 1987, we would like to hear from you.”

The Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission is an independent body.
