The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) will launch a new series of banknotes, to be officially unveiled by the President of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, on December 2, 2025, in Suva.

RBF Governor Ariff Ali said the central bank conducts a major review of Fiji’s banknotes every 10 to 12 years, with the last redesign completed in 2012.

This process ensures that our currency remains secure, durable, and reflective of Fiji’s identity,” Mr Ali said.

He said the new series features updated designs that highlight Fiji’s national heritage, biodiversity, and culture, along with improved materials for greater durability.

“We have incorporated advanced security features to safeguard against counterfeiting and added design elements to assist the visually impaired,” Mr Ali explained.

The new banknotes will enter circulation on January 2, 2026.
