Veteran boxer Junior Farzan Ali is seeking a rematch after going down to Krishneel Mudaliar for the vacant Fiji lightweight title in the Fiji South Pacific Boxing Promotion (SPBP) at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.

Ali got the offer to fight a few weeks before and did not let the fans down despite getting knocked down on the scorecard.

The 42-year-old sustained a lot of body punches which in the end proved to be the deciding factor. Ali succumbed to the canvas in the ninth round going down and was counted out.

“I got the offer only two weeks ago to take up the fight,” he said.

“It was a short notice so I just trained ten days for the bout. I think I did enough to go through nine rounds.

“I entertained the fans.”

Ali said he would hang his gloves if he loses to Mudaliar again. This was Ali’s third loss against Mudaliar.

“I want a rematch with Krishneel because in ten days you can’t prepare yourself for a title fight,” Ali said.

“Age is no factor for me. I just need six weeks to prepare myself. I did not think that I would go through the nine rounds in this fight. If Krishneel beats me next I will gang up my gloves.”
