THE Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is pleased to announce that rising star Sairusi Ravudi has signed a contract extension with the Club through to 2028.
The Taupo, New Zealand-born talent, who traces his roots to Nakorovou, Dreketi in Rewa and Nasukamai, Nalawa in Ra through his mother’s side, was one of 12 development players named by the Drua this season.
Ravudi made his first appearance for the main squad in Round 5 against the Brumbies in Ba and celebrated with his first try for the Club, he has since gone on to make three appearances.
Expressing his excitement on the opportunity, Ravudi said: “I’m truly grateful and blessed to be given the chance to sign full-time with the Drua.
Having grown up and played my rugby in New Zealand, coming back home to Fiji means a lot to me. It’s special knowing my family now gets to watch me play here. There’s no other place I’d rather be as I continue to develop my rugby, and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
Fijian Drua general manager Rugby, Baden Stephenson said: “Sai made an immediate impact at our Club when he joined our Development Squad in January this year. Sai performed very well in the Drua A games (curtain raisers) and earned his Super Rugby debut with a standout performance against the Brumbies in Ba.
The decision to upgrade and extend his contract was an easy one as he very professional, suits our game model, outstanding character and has a huge future at our Club.”
