Young hooker Sairusi Ravudi is all set to make his Super Rugby Pacific debut for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua tomorrow, stepping up as a starter against the ACT Brumbies at Four R Stadium in Ba.
Ravudi’s call-up comes after regular hooker Zuriel Togiatama was sidelined with illness, opening the door for the promising talent to take center stage. Penaia Cakobau will cover on the bench, wearing the number 16 jersey.
Originally from Nakorovou, Dreketi in Rewa, with ties to Nasukamai in Ra, Ravudi has steadily climbed the ranks. He sharpened his skills at Rotorua Boys’ High School in New Zealand and has represented both the Fiji Under-20 side and the New Zealand Fijian Secondary Schools team.
Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has been impressed with Ravudi’s rugby smarts and work ethic during training sessions. “Sairusi has earned his chance with consistent hard work and a strong rugby brain,” Jackson said.
