FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne has named a formidable 23- member squad for the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan.
The matchday-23 sees a majority of the players retaining their positions from Monday’s clash against Canada where they won 63-10.
Temo Mayanavanua steps in to take the number five jersey at right lock, filling in the ranks for Isoa Nasilasila, who played in it last week.
Kalaveti Ravouvou makes his debut as right wing in the match against Japan, filling for Seta Tamanivalu who stepped out in last week’s semi-final due to a head injury assessment and was replaced by Joji Nasova.
Speaking on the squad for the Japan clash, Byrne said with their PNC campaign wrapping up with the final, it had also been a favourable week for the team.
“I think it’s been a great week, it’s a short week for us. I think at the end of a campaign, that’s always a good thing, to just get on with the job and the game comes around pretty quick,” Byrne mentioned.
“We’ve only had two training sessions this week, so that’s been really good.
“At the end of a long campaign, everybody’s fresh and ready to go, looking forward to the weather again.”
The Flying Fijians face Japan tomorrow at 1.35pm Fiji time at the America First Field in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
