Ratu Sukuna U18 wants top berth

THE Ratu Sukuna Memorial School U18 team would not leave any guns behind when the side plays Marist Brothers High School in the semi-final of the Suva Secondary Schools rugby competition tomorrow.

The Nabua-based school had been playing in the tier two competition but with their impressive win over Assemblies of God 26-3 last Saturday are ready to move up to the next stage.

Assistant Principal Walesi Soqoiwasa said the team had not left any stones unturned in their quest to make it to the national competition.

“We are preparing the team according to our strengths knowing the calibre of our opponent since they have a good record,” he said.

“We are also aware of their good record, the achievements they got but we will be going there as a unit.

“The players are prepared well in terms of mentally, physically and spiritually for the game.”

Soqoiwasa said it was a pathway for the school to get into the Deans competition.

“If we want to play in the national competition then this is the pathway and we had to win,” he added.

“For the last three years we have been down in the Premier B competition. Our last achievement in the competition was in 2002 where we reached the final in under-19 grade.”

He said he would tell his players on the game day what was required from the boys.

“Marist have been together for couple of years now and they have been winning and remain unbeaten in the competition,”

“Players need to know about our game plan and play at the right position with right game plan.

“I urge all the parents and the supporters to come and support the team,”

The match kicks off at 2.40pm at Suva Grammar School grounds tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final Nasinu Secondary meets John Wesley College.
