Ratu Navula College stamped their dominance in the Vodafone Deans West Secondary Schools Rugby finals at Churchill Park in Lautoka last Saturday, securing three titles across the U14, U15, and U19 grades.

The Nadi-based school’s campaign kicked off with a default win in the U14 final after their opponents Tavua College failed to turn up due to technical issues.

In the U15 final, Ratu Navula displayed discipline and structure to overpower Natabua High School 19-7. Their defensive line stood strong while they capitalised on scoring opportunities to seal the win.

The highlight of the day came in the U19 final where Ratu Navula edged Ba Provincial Freebird Institute 22-15 in a thrilling contest. With a few Fiji U20 squad members in their ranks, Ratu Navula controlled possession and executed a well-structured game plan. Their tactical kicking and physicality at the breakdown proved to be the difference.

U19 captain Rupeni Nuinui, who is also in the extended Fiji U20 squad, credited the team’s composure and faith for the win.

“Our main message before stepping onto the field was to stay humble and let God take control,” Nuinui said.

“Winning all three grades is a huge blessing. We thank God for everything and acknowledge the support from our school and families.”

With three wins, now sets them up as strong contenders heading into the national quarter-finals.
