Update: 2:58PM THE Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has been elected as the new president of the Social Democratic Liberal Party.
Ratu Naiqama replaces Ratu Silivenusi Waqausa, who resigned from the party president’s post a few months ago.
SODELPA leader Ro Teimumu Kepa confirmed that Ratu Naiqama was elected party president today but she did not say who else contested for the post.
Ro Teimumu said 109 members voted in the election that was held behind closed doors.
