Ram shares precious Fiji FACT memories

It was truly a unique experience for former Nasinu team player and national football representative Ronald Ram when he took part in the 1997 Fiji FACT.

As a seasoned veteran in his 40s, Ram reflected on how the competition has evolved over time.

Starting his soccer journey at DAV Boys’ College in Suva, Ram’s deep passion for the sport developed from a young age and has continued to drive his career.

Despite the challenges faced during the 1997 Fiji FACT, such as rigorous training and limited resources, Ram and his teammates banded together to forge a strong team spirit.

“Growing up it was always the passion I had for the sport is what I can share with everyone today,” said Ram.

“At that time the competition was different training was really hard, lack of resources but we managed to work together a team.”

Over the years, Ram has witnessed significant changes in the Fiji FACT, particularly in the speed and style of play.

He noted a marked improvement in coaching education and the overall playing opportunities available to athletes, providing greater chances for players to represent their districts and hometowns.

“I have seen a lot of changes in competition in the Fiji FACT over the years.

“The speed and in the system of play they are progressing.

Grateful for the experiences he has had on the field, Ram looked back fondly on playing alongside some of the sport’s greatest players.

Reminiscing with former teammates about those cherished moments serves as a reminder of the great memories they shared.

In 1999, Ram seized the opportunity to join the Fiji National Futsal team, a decision that proved to be a valuable experience.

In 2003, he proudly represented the Fiji National team.

Ram also took on the role of development officer in 2016 and Youth Development officer at the Fiji Football Association in 2022.

This highlighted his continued commitment to the growth of soccer in Fiji.

Ram will be taking part in the upcoming 2025 RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings International Veterans Tournament

He will get to re-live his playing days while proudly representing Nasinu football.
