Fijian professional boxer Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana said he can’t wait to step into the ring for his upcoming match in the welterweight division against Dane Edge from New Zealand at the ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion event happening on July 19 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
At 28 years old, Daunivavana has been dedicated to intense training in recent weeks, focusing on enhancing his stamina and endurance in preparation for this significant bout.
Originally slated to face Dylan Archer, Daunivavana faced a change of opponent when Archer had to withdraw due to injury, leading to Dane Edge stepping in to fill the spot.
“I can’t wait to jump into the ring, I was preparing to fight Dylan Archer, but a short call was made for me to fight Dane Edge from New Zealand that will be replacing him, either way I’m ready to fight anyone,” said Daunivavana.
He admitted that he is uncertain of his opponent’s abilities as they have not fought previously.
“I haven’t fought Dane Edge, so we don’t know what he is capable of, so me and my team are working hard during training just to fight any boxer comes across.
“We are not taking this fight lightly, we are a New Zealand top fighter also, we it will be a great fight for us.”
Reflecting on his previous fight, Daunivavana acknowledged areas where he needs improvement.
“In my last fight there was a lot of weakness that I really had to adjust myself from, I really need to work on my footwork keeping my distance suring the fight.
“Coming to this fight night can’t wait to show what we have been training and what changes we have done.”
Daunivavana, with a professional record of nine wins, eight by knockout, 11 losses and three draws, brings a wealth of experience to the ring.
