The Raiwaqa Flyers touch rugby association are calling for sponsors to support what is expected to be the biggest local touch rugby tournament in Fiji, the Gladiator Cup 2025 which will be held at Albert Park on September 19-20.
The organising committee is inviting companies and individuals to assist in cash or kind, to help make the tournament a success and support grassroots rugby development in communities like Raiwaqa.
Secretary Kinijioji Damuni said, “The committee is looking for sponsors for this biggest touch tournament that will be held locally.
Any companies interested in supporting grassroots rugby to please contact me for support in cash or in kind.”
“In hope, current generation to be better Ambassadors of the Sport and for Fiji tomorrow,” said Damuni.
The event is expected to attract a minimum of 10 teams per category.
The categories include Business House, Masters, Mixed Men’s, Mixed Women’s and Mixed under-14.
Prize money for the top four teams in each category has been confirmed, with first place receiving $1200, second place $600, third place $350 and fourth place $240.
“And now in 2036, touch rugby will become an Olympic sport. We are trying to groom grassroots levels to be able to be part of the Fiji Team.”
Meanwhile, registration is $250 per team and closes on August 29.
