The Raiwai Volleyball Association is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for next month’s Vanua Challenge.
The Fiji Volleyball Federation will hold the Vanua Challenge mid next month and it will involve winning teams from the Vulaca Championship and the Western Rally.
Despite falling short at the Vulaca Championship, the Raiwai association is looking give its players a preparation ground to strengthen their playing skills.
The association will host the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre volleyball tournament this weekend at the Eagles Nest volleyball court in Raiwai.
Association president Jim Rosse hopes the tournament will be used by the players to lift their performances and improve their playing skills.
“We will use this tournament to build up on our preparation towards the Vanua Challenge,” he said.
“The loss at the Vulaca Championship paved the way for the team to keep pushing their limit.
“It was the first FVF-sanctioned tournament and I was proud of how the players performed. It wasn’t our game but we will come back better and strong.
“With the tournament this weekend, it will help us identify our weak areas and we hope to polish up some of our playing techniques.”
The entry fee is $50 per team and the winner will walk away with $300 for men and women’s categories.
Five women’s teams and six men’s teams will be accommodated.
