COMMISSIONER Northern Uraia Rainima has called on the people of Labasa to consider their contribution to the region’s rapid development.

While inaugurating the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North yesterday, he said our growth was measured not just by buildings or businesses, but by how we lived together, respected each other’s differences, and strengthened our community.

He said true progress lied not just in tangible infrastructure, but in fostering unity and understanding across the region.

Mr Rainima said peace, respect, and collaboration were the cornerstones of sustainable growth.

“In a rapidly growing community like ours, we must not forget the importance of living together in harmony,” he said.

“The strength of this region is in its people and their ability to work together, despite differences in race, religion, or background.”

With towns such as Labasa developing quickly, he said it was crucial that unity remained at the heart of the region’s vision.

“We can create all the opportunities we want, but without peace and respect, those opportunities mean little.”
