“I WANT gold this time around,” declared Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi as he sets his sights on the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

After securing a bronze medal in the men’s 96kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, Rainibogi is determined to reach the top of the podium this year.

“Preparations have been going well, we have been training throughout December last year; that shows the focus I’m in and the aim to achieve my goal,” said Rainibogi.

Despite facing challenges such as injuries that required rest, he remains focused on his goal and has been training diligently.

Currently participating in a six-week training camp in Samoa, Rainibogi is preparing himself for success at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games is scheduled for July 23 to August 2.
