A trough of low pressure is expected to approach Fiji from the northeast later today, bringing cloud, showers and rain that will initially affect the Northern and Eastern divisions before spreading across the country.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service 5:30am bulletin, cloudy periods with showers are forecast over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, southern Bua, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, as well as Kadavu.

Showers are expected to become occasional over the Central Division later today.

Elsewhere, fine weather is forecast over the rest of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers.

The Fiji Met has warned that localised heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.
