A trough of low pressure lies to the northeast of the country and is expected to gradually drift south, bringing increasing cloud and showers to northern and eastern parts of Fiji from later tomorrow, according to weather forecasters.
In its forecast to midnight tonight, the Fiji Meteorological Service said cloudy periods with brief showers are expected over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove and southern Bua province, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
Elsewhere across the Fiji Group, conditions are expected to be generally fine, apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers.
However, forecasters warned that afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Localised heavy falls could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates as conditions develop.
