Rain alert lifted for the West ahead of UB40 concert in Nadi today

Music lovers heading to the UB40 concert in Nadi have been given a weather boost after the Fiji Meteorological Service cancelled the heavy rain alert for most parts of the Western Division.

The Weather Office confirmed that improving conditions across the West mean concertgoers will no longer need to worry about heavy rain affecting the much-anticipated show.

While occasional showers remain possible in some areas, the cancellation of the alert is expected to ease concerns for attendees travelling to and from the venue.

Meanwhile, A trough of low pressure lies over the Northern and Eastern parts of the Fiji group.

Associated cloud, rain and showers are expected to affect the eastern and northern parts of the group till tomorrow.

There will be occasional rain over the eastern and northern parts of the Viti Levu [from Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Tailevu, Naitasiri-Ra], Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti group, kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

Partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms, elsewhere. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls likely.

Localised Heavy falls may lead to flash flooding to low lying and flood prone areas.
