The Ministry of Education supports cadetship because it builds character and aligns with the national goals of nurturing well-rounded responsible and community-minded citizens.
Minister Aseri Radrodro highlighted this during the Natabua High School cadet passing-out parade in Lautoka.
“What we are witnessing today (Friday) is the result of weeks of training, discipline, and personal growth, while the marching formation was impressive. The true success lies in the journey behind them,” Mr Radrodro said.
“In the discipline, teamwork, and courage that each cadet has shown — cadet is not just an extra-curricular activity, it’s a leadership development program that shapes the mind-set and values, young people carry with them long after they leave school.
“And the Ministry of Education supports cadetship because it builds character and aligns with our goals of nurturing well-rounded responsible and community-minded citizens.
“While the classrooms prepare the mind, cadet training prepares the heart.
“Instilling responsibility, service, and discipline, together they develop a confident, capable individual ready to lead whether in education, defence, business, agriculture or beyond.”
Mr Radrodro said many students begin their leadership journey in the Scouts, Brownies or Girl Guides.
“Cadetship builds on those early values and prepares young people for the real world. It teaches them respect, punctuality and teamwork.
“They are not just rules, they are daily habits that build stronger families, stronger schools, and a stronger Fiji.”
Natabua High School once again claimed the title of being the secondary school with the biggest cadet passing-out parade with 1100 students participating in the event.
The occasion, attended by an even larger crowd of parents, guardians, relatives and friends, marked another historic milestone for the school.
