Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Semi Radradra met with the Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Rokuichiro Michii at the Japanese embassy in Suva yesterday to celebrate his transfer onto Japanese rugby.

Radradra and Michii celebrated the occasion with the presentation of gifts and important documents, and a toast to bid the player well on his new undertaking in Japan.

Radradra shared details of his meeting with the ambassador, as he looks forward to setting foot on Japanese shores.
“I was just fortunate enough that the ambassador had an invitation for me to come and have a cup of tea and also collect my passport and the visa I lodged two weeks ago,” he shared yesterday.

In sharing his experience of the move to Japan, he added he was ready to embrace the opportunity.

“Moving to Japan is something new for me and I’m really looking forward to the challenge that comes,” he said.

Radradra has signed on with Japan Rugby League One side Shizuoka Blue Revs after completing a two-year stint with French Top 14 club Lyon when the 2024-25 season ended in June this year.

The Blue Revs are based in the city of Iwata, in the Japanese prefecture of Shizuoka and finished fourth in Japan’s division one rugby union competition this season.

In joining the Blue Revs team, he joins the likes of Springboks World Cup winner Kwagga Smith, who is also captain of the side.

Meanwhile, with Radradra in the country, he will also join the 30-member squad named for the Pacific Nations Cup as they march into camp today.
