AS time runs out, veteran Suva striker Pita Rabo is getting a chance to probably continue his footballing career from the coach’s box.
Rabo, 39, has been assisting Frank Farina prepare the Vodafone Fiji under-23 team for a six-match tour of Spain.
But he is not hanging his boots and insists he has another three years to go.
“I’m not thinking of quitting now because I know I’m still fit and I have a passion for football,” he said.
He admitted that coaching with Farina had given him a different perspective on the game.
“I’m really happy to be part of the national team and I’m looking forward to learn more things, “he said.
“Farina does things very simple and in a very professional way. At the moment I’m not looking forward to coach any team but I’m looking forward to gain the experience and knowledge before I start coaching.”
The national coach is also happy with Rabo and the progress he has made.
“He was basically recommended by the FIFA/OFC coaching instructor Giovani Fernandes,” Farina said.
“He showed lots of enthusiasm and he also has lots of free time and we lack men in terms of coaching staff and I put the question to him to come in and observe and he agreed.”
Farina said he was proud of Rabo and he would make a great coach one day as he had passion for football.
