Ra province recorded heaviest rain today as unsettled weather continues

More than 100 millimetres of rain has been recorded in several parts of the country over the past 24 hours, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service’s 4.30pm bulletin.

Rainfall recorded from 3am yesterday (December 14) to 3pm today (December 15) shows Penang (Rakiraki) receiving 132.5 millimetres, Nadarivatu 111.0 millimetres, and Dobuilevu (Rakiraki) 101.0 millimetres.

Other notable totals include Rarawai with 98.5 millimetres, Vunisea 99.5 millimetres, and Nagado 97.5 millimetres.

The Fiji Met Service says a trough of low pressure, accompanied by cloud and rain, continues to affect the Fiji Group.

Forecasts indicate occasional to periods of rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms expected over most places.

Authorities are advising the public to remain cautious, particularly in flood-prone areas, as wet conditions persist.
