THE Ra High School (RHS) under-18 is the team to watch in the 2026 Vodafone Super Deans Championship as they host Ratu Kadavulevu School in their quarter-final clash at Garvey Park in Tavua this Saturday.
RHS, despite being the fourth seed team from the Western Zone, beat the top seed from the Northern Zone Navatu Secondary 41-8 last Saturday at Ratu Ganilau Park in Savusavu.
It was a statement performance from RHS which made the long journey to Savusavu a memorable one.
Head coach Sakiusa Dausigakoilau was clear about the team’s mindset going into the game.
“The standard of rugby required at this stage of the Deans Competition demands a whole new level of performance. We give thanks to the Almighty for what we achieved today,” he said.
RHS faces the daunting challenge of hosting defending champion Ratu Kadavulevu School.
Dausigakoilau is well aware of the task ahead and is focused on refining the team’s performance.
“As we prepare for the quarter-finals, we will return to the drawing board to identify areas for improvement and aim to come back stronger this weekend,” he explained.
The trip to Savusavu was particularly special for the coach and his players, with many experiencing their first-ever boat journey.
For Dausigakoilau, originally from Naweni, Cakaudrove in Savusavu, it was also a precious opportunity to reconnect with friends and family. Yet, when asked about his allegiance, the coach was unequivocal.
“As a teacher, we always give our best to whatever school we are sent to,” he said proudly. RHS now stands ready to face their formidable rivals in what promises to be an electrifying quarter-final showdown.
