QUEEN Victoria School Old Boys have claimed victory in the Sovanivalu Shield Challenge by defeating Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys with a score of 26-19 at Albert Park in Suva on Friday.
This win comes as a turnaround from the previous year when RKS emerged victorious with a score of 40-36 in a fiercely contested final.
Head coach Seremaia Waqanisau expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasising the diligent preparation undertaken by the players leading up to the match.
“Preparations were good, the boys really prepared well for this match, and getting the win I’m proud of the boy’s performance,” said Waqanisau.
He adds despite a challenging first half, with a strong focus on defense and maintaining solid tackles, the team was able to secure the win.
“It was a tough first half, my message to the boys was to work on our defence and keep hard on our tackles, and that’s how we got the win.
“Facing a formidable opponent in RKS, the QVS Old Boys displayed resilience and determination throughout the match.”
Waqanisau extended his gratitude to the old boys of QVS, as well as the enthusiastic supporters and families who turned out in large numbers to support the team.
Meanwhile, in the first match of the Development team, RKS won 23-10 over QVS.
