+++Stand together

IN these times of need, we all should stand together. We are Fiji.

Announcers

THANKS to the vernacular (iTaukei and Hindi) radio announcers for the news coverage and updates during Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston. The English radio announcers need to organise, and fill their programs with priority life and death instructions and updates, rather than out-of-date unnecessary briefs. Lack of empathy and ridiculous jokes from English radio announcers should be addressed.

Sting operation

IT seems some taxidrivers don’t bother about road courtesy. A Nausori Town taxi (I’ve got the number) just disregarded all signs and switched from inside to outside line, not even bothering to check his rear-view mirror and nearly hitting my car at 5.15pm coming on to Rewa Bridge from the Suva side.

As I avoided this mishap by tooting my horn, the taxidriver chased me on the bridge and asked why I had tooted at him. Where has defensive driving and PSV courtesy gone? Has it flown away with Severe TC Winston as this was not the first incident recently? Could the relevant authorities do something about this? My suggestion is a sting operation to catch drivers.

Flag change

Was there a lot of outcry when Fiji became a republic by cutting off relationship with the British? If that was acceptable, then removing the British symbols from the flag should be acceptable too. It is easier to march forward than backward.

Conduct

DO unto others what we want others to do unto us is a statement that should remind us of the conduct we personify towards others. This is something for the believers to think about in whatever we do in all aspects of life. It can all come back!

Nature restored

I wanna rejoice with those concerned about creation.

I wanna see no harm to our Earth.

I wanna see our mangroves restored.

I wanna see proper garbage disposal.

I wanna see our waterways free and flowing.

I wanna see no more insensitivity.

I wanna see no more wastage of the rich.

I wanna see no more ruthless exploitation.

I wanna see the raising of the poor.

I wanna see God’s creation flourishing in its wholeness.

I wanna see us living in harmony with our God and with nature.
