Pickpocket alert

THERE is a Christmas song, Santa Claus is coming to town with a line being, “you’d better watch out”, so be aware of your surroundings and your belongings at all times. The age-old problems of pickpocketing and purse snatching are alive and well in our cities. Pickpocketing is a crime of opportunity and they are experienced and good at their job. So avoid becoming a victim and take precautions. And the best way to prevent them is to remove the easy opportunities from would-be thieves.

Labasa school

I THANK Dr Mahendra Reddy for initiating an inquiry in to a Labasa school from which I was removed when I questioned the management why one person is holding on to three posts and people are being nominated to hold certain posts when we should be having elections for these posts. I hope the minister’s findings can be made public

Processed meat

ACCORDING to WHO, processed meat is carcinogenic. The risk is on individuals who eat it. But if it is carcinogenic, labelling it as such won’t stop cancer. It is appropriate therefore not to allow the sale of processed meat considered carcinogenic by WHO. Just like cigarette with its labels, is still carcinogenic, therefore, the production and selling of cigarette must be stopped. The Government must not allow the production and selling of carcinogenic meat and cigarette. Labelling won’t help.

Fiji tourism

THE strength of the entire Fijian tourism industry is the people. Repeated surveys have always pointed out that the reason tourists come back to Fiji is the people. The Fijian hospitality, the Fijian ability, whether it’s the children; their ability to make people welcome is unsurpassed. The Government should take advantage of such opportunities.
