Firefighters and police officers are at the scene of a fatal accident along the Lomolomo flats trying to remove the bodies of two individuals from a mangled wreck.

The bodies believed to be trapped in a red car that was alleged to have collided head on with a bus along the Queens Highway.

Because of the impact of the accident, firefighters are also finding it difficult to retrieve the bodies trapped in the vehicle.

They are also using tarpaulin to cover the scene from the public, most of whom have been stuck at the scene in the past hour.

Police director Traffic SSP Mitieli Divuana said the accident happened half an hour ago.

He said the number of deaths and extent of injuries as a result of the accident will be announced later as investigations are ongoing.

SSP Divuana said the bus was traveling from Lautoka to Suva with 20 passengers.

“Two of its passengers have been taken to hospital. Still can’t confirm on the number that died from the vehicle because they still stuck under the bus,” SSP Divuana said.
