Queen Elizabeth Drive to close intermittently for next four months

Members of the travelling public are advised that Queen Elizabeth Drive between Ratu Sukuna Road to Kumi Street will be closed on an intermittent basis for the next four months to all vehicular traffic from today – Monday, March 15.

The Fiji Roads Authority has indicated that works will be carried out on 24 hours/7day basis as part of the QED Upgrade Project.

The project will include site clearance, property accommodation, drainage upgradation, pavement works and utility relocation works.

The authority stated that only residents living along the affected area would be issued vehicle passes and would be permitted into the work area; and these are residents living along Charlton, Kumi, Storck, Gardener and Crawford are advised to access from Ratu Sukuna.

“The general public is advised to follow the detour routes. Vehicles travelling from Suva City to Laucala Bay will be diverted to Ratu Sukuna Road and then towards Vuya Road back into QED and similarly vehicles travelling from Laucala bay towards Suva city along QED is required to be detoured along Vuya Road and then towards Ratu Sukuna,” the FRA stated.

“Manual traffic controllers will be stationed at prominent locations including entry and exit points to the site to guide the road users.”

Commuters are advised to take this notice into account when finalising travel plans.
