A FEW weeks back, a qawali competition was held in Nausori
I believe this qawali was at its very lowest level.
Vulgar and offensive language and actions were rife during this show.
I had to leave this show halfway through because it defeated the purpose of me attending this so-called “grand qawali night”.
It seems concerns and complaints about qawali competitions published in the dailies a few years back seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
Rather than improving, it’s getting worse.
Qawali shows will not become better if people are assuming a miracle will happen.
The calibre of the artist is questionable and should raise eyebrows.
Next time, I suggest relevant authorities be present to censor and make qawali shows suitable for all.
The filth and abuse must definitely stop.
Paying $5 as ticket price for qawali competitions should be worth it.
